24-foot Fly's Eye Dome
Studio DanReiser dedicated a decade to the meticulous restoration, redesign, and installation of R. Buckminster Fuller’s iconic Fly’s Eye Domes. The journey began with the restoration of Fuller’s 24-foot prototype, an ambitious project that required extensive research and a deep understanding of Fuller’s visionary design principles.
Studio DanReiser not only revived the prototype but also played a pivotal role in overseeing its first installment and exhibition in over two decades. This significant event was part of the Design Miami satellite exhibition program, providing a platform to showcase the dome's innovative design and historical importance.
Their long-term commitment and expertise ensured that the Fly’s Eye Dome was faithfully restored and reintroduced to the world, allowing new generations to appreciate Fuller’s groundbreaking work.

Bristol Rhode Island
"The original fiberglass components of the Fly’s Eye Dome were transported to master shipbuilder Goetz Composites in Bristol, Rhode Island, where they underwent a meticulous restoration and redesign.".

"Visible in the background, one of the newly fitted lenses is among many installed in the dome’s oculus."

"With no original plans to reference, Reiser meticulously reconstructed the structure and documented its assembly process from the ground up."
